A roundup of the latest model and tool launches from Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI (ChatGPT), checked against the original TechCrunch articles.

Claude

Claude Opus 5.5 (September 22). Anthropic’s new Opus model. It is priced at $20 per million output tokens, down from $25 for the previous Opus. Anthropic says it sets a new state of the art in coding and knowledge work, outperforms the larger Fable model on many benchmarks, and runs faster. These are Anthropic’s own claims. Claude Duet (October 22). An agent app for professionals and small businesses. Duet builds daily briefings and dashboards, suggests actions based on your data, and runs tasks in its own virtual machine, returning to you when it needs approval. It is built on Opus 5.5 and connects to more than 6,000 connectors in the Claude Marketplace. Payments require your approval, and by default the agent declines requests for credit card numbers and government ID. It is available on iOS, Android and claude.ai as a research preview for Pro and Max subscribers, through a waitlist. Source: TechCrunch

ChatGPT

Intelligent UI (October 7). OpenAI’s new interface for ChatGPT adds many more visuals to conversations, including tappable buttons, custom calculators for specific tasks, interactive charts and editable graphs. Users can reduce the number of visuals. It launches with GPT-6 for Pro, Plus, Business and Enterprise users, and reaches Free and Go users on October 8. Source: TechCrunch

GPT-6 Sol and Luna (September 22). Two updated models alongside GPT-6 Astra. Sol is for complex tasks such as coding. Luna is for high-volume tasks with clear goals, such as summarizing documents and answering quick questions. OpenAI says both cost half as much as the GPT-5.6 versions, and that GPT-6 Sol makes about half as many factual mistakes as its predecessor. These are OpenAI’s own figures. Source: TechCrunch

What it means for you

Prices for capable models keep falling, and agents are moving from chat into apps that run tasks in the background. Both companies are also adding safeguards around payments and sensitive data.
